Photographer James Colón started his professional photography career in 1992. He took his first photography classes at San Joaquin Delta College. As tradition students had their work exhibited on the gallery walls for critique. James work caught the eye of Delta's faculty and he soon landed Delta College as his first client. James stated freelancing during his days with Delta, composing portraits and doing contract photography for Delta's athletic programs.
Upon competing the photography program at Delta James transferred to California State University Stanislaus. He enrolled in the art program and advanced photography courses. Within his first semester he landed the position of being the photographer for Stanislaus State University. Continuing his freelance work of portraits, portfolios, events and weddings his clientele expanded to local fashion designers and boutiques and even the University of the Pacific. Soon he was given projects including such names as celebrities General Collin Powel ret., James Belushi, Musicians Willie Nelson, Chris Young, Dustin Lynch, Tanya Tucker, Tracy Byrd, and more..
After graduation, in 2000 James moved to Santa Barbara in search of a venue idyllic for outdoor photography. James officially created California Image and Design. His client list includes regional designers, celebrity models, even the University of California at Santa Barbara. Clients come from across the US and also few European and South American clientele. Designers often ship their clothing to California Image & Design for full photography production services here in scenic Santa Barbara. Fashion photography and model portfolios account for the vast majority of projects James composes, although James has done extensive travel in search of scenic photography. James often has frequent requests for his services for weddings, traditional portraits and special events.
